Becoming a Mensan

(And Why You Should)

All you need is a score in the top 2% of a recognized standardized IQ test. (Read a short history and explanation of IQ.)

If you have ever been a member of Mensa, all you need to do to rejoin is contact the National Office.

If you are interested in becoming a new member, there are two ways to qualify:

  1. By taking a supervised test. Tests are designed for prospects age 14 and older and are administered by appointment only. For those for whom English is not the primary language, a Culture Free Test may be available. Testing takes about 2 hours and the supervised test fee is $60.00 (paid at the time of testing). Print an application. For details call 1-800-351-1464.
  2. By submitting prior evidence with a test score in the top 2% on any of several standardized tests (details). Most public and private schools administer tests which are acceptable for admission. Qualifying test scores should be sent to the National Office with a $25.00 non-refundable evaluation fee. Print an application.

Additionally, you can take a pre-test at home that will give you a good idea how you will perform on the supervised Mensa admission test.
